Retaining talent in the Advanced Engineering sector

Posted by: , Posted on: - Categories: Investment, Skills and training

Another update on one of our joint investment projects.

Semta are delivering a project to ensure that skilled employees who are made redundant from Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering companies are matched to vacancies in other companies in the sector.  The UK Talent Retention Solution helps keep these skilled people in the sector (and the UK) and also saves recruitment costs for those looking to take on new staff.

Semta’s role is to engage employers and ensure that the system is promoted and supported by business and key sector bodies.  So far almost 140 employers are engaged, but through further promotion, this will be close to 1,000 by the end of March 2012.

The solution is on target to establish a truly employer-led system that will be self-sustaining through large company subscriptions from January 2012.

We think this is a great system to keep hold of talent in danger of being lost to this sector, especially in the current climate where substantial redundancies are occurring. What do you think?
